May 2007 In partnership with the Environment Africa Trust, received Project Development grant worth £25,000 from Comic Relief.
Jan-Jun 2007 Assisted Tanzanian government with Land Suitability Mapping in Lindi Rural and Nachingwea Districts.
Oct 2006 New grant worth £5,000 received from the Panton Trust.
Sep 2006 Kikole Village Forest Management Plan approved by Kilwa District Council, paving the way for implementation.
Feb 2006 We receive a grant of £10,000 (spread over 2 years) to cover the costs of a second field vehicle. The funds were provided by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs via Fauna & Flora International's Biodiversity and Human Needs programme.
Nov 2005 The MCP celebrates its 10th birthday! Project team in Kilwa expands to 5 people with recruitment of a Community Development Officer.
Sep 2005 The Environment Africa Trust, a UK registered charity, takes on fund-raising responsibilities for the project in the UK.
Apr 2005 In partnership with Fauna & Flora International the MCP receives a grant from the Darwin Initiative to continue and expand its programme of community forestry in Kilwa District.
Dec 2004 Project registers as an NGO, no. 12929, in Tanzania.
Jun 2004 Kilwa Field Office established. MCP broadens out remit from research to practical conservation.
Apr 2004 Proposal to establish a permanent field base in Kilwa wins the top $75,000 Consolidation Award from the BP Conservation Programme.
Jan 2004 This web-site produced. Project moves to www.mpingoconservation.org.
Jun-Sep 2003 Mpingo 2003 expedition.
Nov 2002 Project changes its name to the Mpingo Conservation Project to better reflect the diversity of people involved in it.
Jun-Sep 2001 Mpingo Carvings Investigation 2001 expedition.
Dec 2000 Project receives grant from the Panton Trust to continue and expand activities. Steering committee of veteran expeditioners established.

Dec 1997 Project adopts name of the Cambridge Mpingo Project. Preparations for second expedition begin.
