Five ways Tanzanian communities are benefiting from forests

This World Forests Week, we share why we value forests

World Forest Week (18-22 July) is an opportunity for sharing state-of-the-art knowledge and major accomplishments and achievements for sustainable forest management. This year, we thought we would take the opportunity to share why we value forests...

Forests provide us with many great social and environmental benefits. They take carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen, store water to prevent floods, provide habitat for wildlife, and combat climate change. They also offer sustainable income opportunities for local people, and can help rural communities generate funds for development.

Our slideshow (left) shows just five ways forests have improved the lives of rural communities in Tanzania.
